🌿 Traditional Core Ingredients
Instead of lab-grade chemicals, a traditional Indian recipe relies on a Panchagavya and Herbal blend:
- Gomutra Ark (Distilled Desi Cow Urine): 1 Litre. Serves as the primary natural disinfectant and base.
- Neem Leaves or Pure Neem Oil: 10–15 ml of oil or a concentrated paste of fresh leaves. Highly potent anti-bacterial and insect repellent.
- Pine Oil (Cheed ka Tel): 50 ml. Acts as a solvent and adds basic grease-cutting properties.
- Natural Fragrance Oils: 10–20 drops of Lemongrass, Eucalyptus (Nilgiri), or Sandalwood oil. This completely neutralises the organic odor of the base, leaving a temple-like aroma.
- Water: 1 Litre.
🛠️ The Traditional Preparation Process
Step 1: Preparing the Base (Distillation)
Traditionally, raw cow urine is not poured directly onto floors due to its sharp odor. It undergoes a simple distillation process to create Ark:
- Raw cow urine is heated in an earthen or stainless steel pot equipped with a distillation tube.
- The vapor is condensed and collected in a separate container. The resulting liquid is clear, odorless, and retains all concentrated antimicrobial properties.
Step 2: Extracting Herbal Potency
- Fresh Neem and Tulsi (Holy Basil) leaves are crushed and soaked in hot water for several hours to extract their juices, or pure cold-pressed Neem oil is measured out.
Step 3: Cold-Blending the Components
- In a clean clay or glass vessel, take 1 Litre of the Distilled Gomutra Ark.
- Slowly mix in the 50 ml of Pine Oil and Neem Oil/extract, stirring uniformly with a wooden rod.
- Add your choice of essential oil, such as Lemongrass or Citronella, which functions as both a pleasant deodorizer and a natural mosquito repellent.
- Add 1 Litre of clean water to finish the concentrated blend.
